Picture of my Night and Day Challenge Necklace

I wrote the other day about submitting a necklace for the Night and Day Challenge of Stringing Magazine.

Here is the picture.  I was not sure if I could have the picture also in my blog.  But I have not found anything of the sort in the guidelines.

My idea of "Night and Day" for this piece is the combination of blue tones that are all together in the "Sky" in 24 hours, and of course black cord to represent "The Night" and the silver tones represent "the Moon and the Stars".

My submission is # 48. Vote for it if you like it! http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Q35SVP5

HOW TO make a necklace in less than 20 minutes

This necklace is simple, yet elegant and easy to make.

Materials:

- 3 Acrylic Beads (they have aluminum inside) you can choose any size and color.  Try to combine shapes.
- 4 Metal Beads.  I chose them all of the same color.  Try different shapes and sizes.
- 2mm Leather Cord - choose the length you would like your necklace or choker to be.
- 2 Leather ends or crimps
- 1 Lobster Claw clasp
- 2 Jumprings
- Glue

Tip:  Make sure your leather cord fits into the beads... they should have at least a 2mm hole.

Steps:

1. Arrange the beads as you want them on the cord and insert them.

2. Use a little bit of glue at the tip of the leather cord and crimp the leather end.  The glue helps it stay in place and not fall off.  Do this for both sides.

3. Open one of the jumprings, insert the leather crimp and the clasp.

4. Open the other jumring and insert the leather crimp.

Congratulations! You have a new necklace.

My Bracelet In Spring 2010 Stringing Magazine

The magazine is now available.  My project is a bracelet.  You can see it on page 59.  It is bracelet #10.

It is a simple design that was created by redesigning a necklace for my mother in Law.  I got many great things out of that necklace, and even leftover material for this bracelet.

Remember I am also going to be published in the Summer 2010 issue.

I am so Excited!

I want to use my first post to share my excitement for being published in the Spring and Summer 2010 editions of Stringing Magazine.

I always dreamed of being published, until one day I just got busy and submitted some of my work.  When they contacted me telling me they had preselected some of my work, I was really happy.  Even more so when I was told that one of my bracelets was chosen for the Spring 2010 edition.  Look for it!  It is about to come out to the newsstand.  http://www.stringingmagazine.com/

Three days ago, they also told me that they had chosen a necklace and a bracelet for the Summer 2010 issue.

I cannot upload the pictures until the magazines have been published.  I plan on doing it as soon as I can.
